The Alaska summer travel season is about to kick off next month, and the cruise industry is looking at a record year -- 50 ships this year, up from 37 in in 2019 (The link to that article is below). But the state is a year-round travel destination, as aviation editor Robert Silk recently discovered when he flew there in March for skiing, dogsledding and winter fun.

In this episode, Silk and host Rebecca Tobin talk with Kirsten Dixon, a well known hotelier and hospitality expert in the state, about how to travel in Alaska in the winter, Dixon's involvement with the Iditarod dogsled race, this summer's tourism highlights and whether travel in the state is "back."
