The glitz and glamor of the disco era will be the loose theme of Spiegelworld's latest production on the Las Vegas Strip.
"DiscoShow" will open in the new Glitterloft at the Linq Hotel + Experience in the summer of 2024. The venue, formerly the sports book at Imperial Palace and dormant since 2014, will include the entertainment space, bars and a diner.
The show will feature Spiegelworld's distinctive blend of adult humor and music. The creative team includes director and choreographer Steven Hoggett, a multiple Tony Award nominee whose Broadway credits include "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" and "Once."
"Over 40 years ago, conservative factions of the sporting world swung baseball bats at disco," said Spiegelworld's founder Ross Mollison, referring to a 1979 event at a Chicago White Sox baseball doubleheader, during which a crate filled with disco records brought by fans was exploded on the Comiskey Park field by a local rock DJ. "Today disco is fighting back to make way for a fantastic celebration of the music and joyfully defiant legacy that lives on today."
Spiegelworld produces three other shows in Las Vegas: "Absinthe" (which recently marked its 12th anniversary at Caesars Palace), "OPN" (Cosmopolitan) and "Atomic Saloon Show" (Grand Canal Shoppes in the Venetian Las Vegas). The company also recently bought a town near Las Vegas for its headquarters and potential entertainment opportunities.
Tickets for "DiscoShow" will go on sale in the next few months.
