Guests looking up when inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas will see a newly painted sky as part of the renovation to the Rain Show, among other new aspects of the indoor mall.
The Rain Show, which simulates a thunderstorm within the mall, is undergoing extensive upgrades, including the installation of new technology for the light and water show. Rob Wilkerson, a local artist, restored the ceiling. He has been involved in painting some of the city's most iconic properties, including the original sky ceiling in Paris Las Vegas.
The Miracle Mile Shops' sky-painted ceiling was part of the mall's original "Desert Passage" Arabian bazaar era, when the surrounding property was known as the Aladdin Hotel & Casino. The renovated mall will still feature some of the original ornate flooring as well as a hanging art piece that the Miracle Mile Shops had commissioned to match the floor's design.
Interior renovations will also include new flooring, lighting, ceilings and additional technology. LED signs and updated landscaping will refresh the mall's exterior. Renovations are set to be completed this spring.
The Miracle Mile Shops will remain open during the remodel.
