MSC Cruises will base a ship in New York year-round for the first time, starting in spring 2023.
The MSC Meraviglia will make New York its home starting next April, sailing six- to 11-day cruises to the Caribbean, Bermuda and New England/Canada from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Some of the itineraries include a call at the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, its private destination in the Bahamas.
Reservations open March 9.
MSC said the move "further enhances the brand's North American presence." MSC has been building up its offerings in Florida, with ships operating from Port Canaveral and Miami, where it is constructing a terminal. The Meraviglia would be its first ship homeporting in the Northeast on a permanent basis.
"New York City was the natural choice when we picked our next U.S. port because it's so accessible," said Ruben Rodriguez, president of MSC Cruises USA. "MSC Meraviglia was a huge hit when she first came to New York in 2019."
