After assessing the level of damage wrought by Hurricane Fiona last week, several resorts in the Dominican Republic have temporarily closed or limited operations as they undergo repair.
The Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, Sanctuary Cap Cana and Hilton La Romana resorts in the Dominican Republic have temporarily closed, with operator Playa Hotels & Resorts citing "necessary cleanup and repair work as a result of Hurricane Fiona."
The properties are expected to reopen in November and December.
The company's latest updates indicate that the Hilton La Romana will be the first to reopen, with the resort's family section to resume operations on Nov. 1 and the adults-only section to reopen on Nov. 20.
The Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is expected to reopen Nov. 15, and sister property Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana on Dec. 6. The Sanctuary Cap Cana is expected to welcome back guests on Dec. 20.
On its website, Playa has posted a notice urging impacted guests to contact their tour operator, travel professional or resort to cancel and/or rebook. Guests who choose to cancel will be refunded and all cancelation fees will be waived.
If rebooking, guests are being provided options to either change their reservation dates or keep their dates and relocate to an alternative resort, subject to availability.

The Club Med Punta Cana reported that it had been impacted by the storm and will temporarily shutter while various repairs are completed. In a statement, the resort said it plans to resume operations on Oct. 22. Guests impacted by the closure are being contacted and redirected to Club Med's portfolio of resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico.

Hyatt's AMResorts' arm announced that two of its D.R. properties were affected.
The Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa has limited service at some restaurants and resort areas but expects to "be fully operational soon," according to AMResorts.
The Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana remains fully operational but sustained damage to its Main Plaza roof. Due to this damage, which will take approximately 30 days to repair, entertainment activities and beverage services normally offered at the Dreams Royal Beach's Main Plaza have been relocated to just outside of the lobby and other surrounding areas.

The Eden Roc Cap Cana escaped major structural damage, but select services and amenities are unavailable. One of the property's three restaurants is temporarily shuttered, while a section of the resort's main pool and part of its beach are closed for cleaning and maintenance. According to a resort spokesperson, the Eden Roc expects to be fully operational by next week.
