Princess Cruises unveiled a new winemaker's dinner that pairs a five-course menu with wines from Napa Valley's Caymus Vineyards.
The dinner is collaboration between Princess' culinary team and Chuck Wagner, owner of Caymus Vineyards.
At the dinners, five wines will be served: Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Caymus-Suisun "The Walking Fool" red blend, Mer Soleil Reserve Chardonnay, Sea Sun Pinot Noir and Emmolo Sparkling.
The meal includes a choice of appetizers, a first course of fresh summer black truffle risotto, main course options of Tournedos Rossini or seared king salmon and giant prawn, a cheese selection and a chocolate raspberry dessert with a dark chocolate cornflake crisp. Each is paired with one of the vineyard's wines.
The dinner will be held at the Crown Grill restaurant for $140 per person, accommodating 12 guests per seating. The dinner will be offered two to three times per cruise, based on the voyage length. Guests can book their reservation once onboard. It is not commissionable to travel advisors.
The winemaker's dinner will be available by the end of April on all Princess ships sailing North American itineraries, including Alaskan voyages. Ships across the fleet sailing worldwide will host the dinners by late May.
Caymus Vineyards, which Wagner founded in 1972 with his late parents when he was 19 years old, is also working with Princess on a refreshed wine menu. The vineyard will provide wine-pairing recommendations on the menu at the Crown Grill specialty restaurant.
