Six Senses is preparing to open its latest urban resort, the Six Senses Rome, on March 16.

The 96-room, city-center property is housed within a 15th century palazzo, which has undergone a restoration.

Elements like a marble staircase, 600-year-old columns at the main entrance and a large baptismal bath dating to the fourth century (unearthed as part of an archeological dig in the early 1900s) have been integrated into the hotel's design.

As part of the project, the San Marcello al Corso Church, which is located adjacent to the property, has also received a refresh of its façade.

Accommodations offer organic mattresses and cotton bedding as well as a mix of courtyard or city street views.

A pair of culinary options are available, including the all-day concept Bivium Restaurant-Cafe-Bar, which specializes in modern Italian fare, and the Notos Rooftop, which is scheduled to open in April.

The property's crown jewel is its Six Senses Spa Rome, which offers a hammam, treatment rooms, meditation rooms, an outdoor yoga deck and a fitness center. In addition to a signature 60-minute Roman bathing circuit experience, the spa's menu includes treatments incorporating biohacking, sound therapy, body cocoons and breathwork.

The Six Senses Rome joins Six Senses' portfolio of 19 hotels and resorts, It is the flag's first outpost in Italy.
The wellness-centric Six Senses brand is owned by IHG Hotels & Resorts.
