Viking will keep its Covid vaccination policy in place across its river, ocean and expedition ships for the foreseeable future.

The company said the decision to continue requiring proof of vaccination comes at the request of guests.

"Our guests overwhelmingly, for the time being, want a vaccinated ship," said Richard Marnell, Viking's executive vice president of marketing. "We know it's something that we'll hang onto for the time being but we're open to change and we will continue to reevaluate as time goes on."

Viking differs from most cruise lines, which have dropped or will soon drop their Covid-era policies and vaccination requirements.

Cunard, Lindblad Expeditions and Windstar Cruises plan to drop or reevaluate their vaccination policies in the coming weeks.

AmaWaterways, Scenic Group, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises and other river lines have already stopped requiring proof of vaccination. So have most large ocean cruise lines.
