Japan's Zipair is launching Tokyo-San Francisco service

Zipair, a low-cost subsidiary of Japan Airlines, will launch service between Tokyo Narita and San Francisco on June 2. 

The five-times-weekly service will be operated with a two-class Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, featuring lie-flat business class seats and an economy cabin.

San Francisco will be Zipair's fourth U.S. destination. The carrier first flew to Honolulu in December 2020. Narita-Los Angeles service began in December 2021 and Narita-San Jose, Calif., service began this past December. 

Zipair sells a selection of unbundled and bundled fare product, including offering unbundled, value offerings in its Full-Flat business cabin. 

The carrier will compete on the Narita-San Francisco route with United, All Nippon and its parent carrier, Cirium flight schedule data shows.
